A hopper full of weeds, back to a clear drop.
This hopper at the top of the downpipe had turned into a window box. Every drop of rain was spilling down the render instead of going down the pipe. We cleared it, rodded and flushed the pipe, and fitted a leaf guard so it stays clear.

A blocked gutter sends the rain where it shouldn't go. Most people only notice when water pours over the edge in an autumn storm or a summer downpour, and by then it has usually been soaking the wall for months.

How do I know if my gutter is blocked?
Water spilling over the front edge when it rains, a downpipe that stays dry in a downpour, green streaks down the wall, or plants growing along the roofline. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you.
Can you unblock a downpipe too?
Yes. We clear the hopper at the top, rod and flush the pipe until the water runs freely, and check it drains at the bottom. A blocked downpipe is £25 on top of the gutter clear.
Water is coming through my ceiling, but the gutters look clear. Why?
Many older houses have hidden gutters you can't see from the street: behind the low wall at the front of the roof, or in the valley between two roofs. When one of those blocks, the water comes inside instead of over the edge. Our drone check shows these hidden gutters clearly, so you know what is blocked before anyone goes up.
Do you work on older houses with cast iron or hidden gutters?
Yes. Victorian and Edwardian houses in St Albans often have cast iron gutters and hidden parapet or valley gutters. We clear them with the gutter vacuum or by hand, flush the downpipes, and send you photos of any rust, loose joints or sagging runs we spot, so you can decide what to do next.
Do I need to be home?
No. As long as we can reach the back garden, we can do the whole job while you're out. The photos arrive on your phone when we finish.
Do you go up on the roof?
Almost never. Our gutter vacuum clears gutters up to two storeys high from the ground, and we use ladders for the rest, so your tiles are not walked on.
What if it rains on the day?
Light rain is fine and even helps us check the water runs away. In heavy rain or wind we move you to the next free date at no charge.
Will it make a mess?
We put sheets down under the work, bag everything as we go and sweep the path before we leave. All the waste goes in the van, not your bin.
How often should gutters be cleared?
Once a year for most houses, ideally after the leaves have fallen. Twice a year if you have conifers or big trees close to the house. If water came over the edge in a summer thunderstorm, don't wait for autumn: a half-blocked gutter copes with drizzle but not a downpour.
Can you check my roof with a drone?
Yes. A drone roof and gutter check gives you clear photos and a short video of your whole roofline, with plain notes on anything we spot, from £125. If you then book a clean within 30 days, we take the £125 off. During a clean we can add drone photos for £30.
Is the drone safe and legal?
Our pilot is registered with the Civil Aviation Authority and we are insured for commercial flying. We check airport restrictions before every flight, and we only film your roof, never your neighbours' gardens.
Can you fix a leaking gutter?
Yes, for small jobs like a leaking joint or a loose bracket. We will show you the problem in a photo and give you a price before doing anything.
